Having Incumbents Screen is Bad for Party Unity and a Recipe for Defeat
...William H. Seward

William H. Seward at More Monmouth Musings has an excellent post on Chairman Adam Puharic's new Steering Committee.
This is a matter of concern to all Republicans, and Seward's post should be required reading.

What do I know? I've never served on the County Committee and have a life other than politics. But as an average voter who doesn't always personally know the person who is running or why, it might be nice to have someone screen and remove a well-known, beloved, name from the race without having his or her opponent announce to the world that in recent years they have had half thier brain removed surgically or are in a persistant coma.

The trick is to use and not misuse the power. Limit the reasons for removing someone and require some substantial proof. No shenannigans.
