PUHARIC LEAVES FEDERAL JOB

Chairman Adam Puharic has officially resigned his position with the Department of Homeland Security. This has been rumored for several weeks, and was confirmed in an e-mail recently sent out from Republican Headquarters. The Asbury Park Press picked up on his e-mail and ran an article today.

Puharic has maintained that he was always in compliance with the federal Hatch Act, and research by the investigative arm of the Monmouth County Republican Blog appears to bear that out. Still, his compliance has hampered his fundraising activities and that may be detrimental to our great party.
Adam says that he has no job lined up at this time, and that he will live off his investments for the time being. This would provide him with plenty of time to address the needs of the party and I hope that will be a good thing and not a repetition of the amateurish and ham-fisted activities during the candidate selection process earlier this year. I hope that the investments that he speaks of are sufficient to provide for his family, as that comes first, before politics.

I can just imagine what the "investigative arm of the blog" looks like....the exchange probably went something like this...
"Hey, Adam, any conflicts?"..."Nope"...."Great, thanks for clarifying"...
Gimme a break! Since when do you ditch a $90k a year job to live on your investments...with a family to provide for....I give it a couple of weeks before he starts working at B. Harvey Construction 'cause there must be an opening now that Barham has left. Or, he may be appointed to a position at the county since this has all the makings of a plum position since he took one for the party.

Wrong Ambrosia. We checked with other federal sources with some legal opinions to boot. (Not Malcolm Carton.) As long as Adam stayed away from fundraising he could be chairman, whether half a chairman or otherwise. As I wrote, "...his compliance has hampered his fundraising activities and that may be detrimental to our great party." A political party that is unable to raise capital won't be very successful for very long. While fundraising can be delegated to others, a chairman that is banned from being involved in that fundraising can become a drag on the income of the party.

Exactly, Ambrosia. I don't know about B. Harvey or the county, but I expect that he will find some kind of job. His track record is that he bounces frequently from job to job. He is a middle class guy and is not independently wealthy. He will eventually have to find work somewhere.
