LINCOLN DAY ROBO-CALLS

Yesterday Republicans were treated to an unprecedented robo-call encouraging them to attend Lincoln Day.
This is a traditional event for county GOP organizations nationwide.
Are ticket sales down? Or not?
Are you going? If not, why? What is your opinion of the robo-calls?
Let us know your opinion.

Not going. I do not want to listen to another Dibella monologue like last years why he's the best thing to hit Monmouth County and how we were all lost in the wilderness before he landed here from Middlesex. I wonder why they have not invited Merla back to give a speech like he did last year. Merla and Dibella, perfect together.

Tickets and advertisment sales are way down. There is a lot of disent within the ranks. The Chairman's ball last month at $750 a pop was a flop.

I'll go. It promises to be more entertaining than a reality show.

Where can I buy a ticket?

One Republican leader told me earlier this week that 150 tickets were sold for Lincoln Day and rumors were circulating among committee members that the Chairman's ball actually lost money. Don't know how true that is, but it's what the GOP leader told me.

Heard that Demaso has already had a meltdown and has the gumption to blame Fred. Why blame Fred?

Look forward to seeing you there....

Will the FBI activities begin around 4am like last year? Do we have to buy tickets to that show?

Well, there you go, Michael. Why do you think attendance is down?

There have been several hateful comments on the blog about specific people. Some names we know, some are people who aren't county names, or shouldn't be.

First rule of politics...don't give your opponent any press. Treat them as a non entity, don't mention their name, don't even mention their faults.

Posts like those that needed to be deleted are why our party is in trouble. The mainstream Republicans have no time for the games that are being played.

We have a Chair that can't keep control of those who would destroy the party with their hatefulness, we have a vice chair that is petty and vindictive and is used to ignoring the messes that happen in Howell. She doesn't even attempt to clean them up, she just lets it lie there.

Howell needs a giant pooper-scooper...I for one do not want to see the Howell three ring circus at the county

They'rrrrrre back, Abe! The anonymous name callers who seem to insinuate that harm will come to Sharon, myself and others if we dare to attend "their" Lincoln Day party. And why bother with the robocalls asking people to buy tickets if you don't want to them to attend.

Building a big tent is not on the agenda of some party "leaders", however, there are those who are sure good at alienating party workers. I have to agree with Michael Borg that chairing the Lincoln Day event is a tremendous task amd Tom and Serena are to be commended for taking on the task. Both are extremely busy people who always find time for just one more civic and charitable event. Serena just chaired one of the most successful art shows in the history of CBA in addition to her duties as Mayor of Holmdel! That was a three day event and major fundraiser for CBA.

Tom and Serena, thanks for helping make Monmouth County a better place to live and work everyday. And to the anonymous poster, aka Norine, get over yourself. It is time to realize your agenda is not working and could wind up costing Republicans seats on the Freeholder board.

"Keep it up, you will help elect democrats, then your tax base will shrink, every productive person will remove their families from the Garden State, just like my parents, aunts and uncles fled New York, under the lack of leadership of Mario Cuomo...."We in Aberdeen may not like or agree with everthing that goes on, but, this is our party and we want unity."

As if the tax base isn't already shrinking? With development out of control and education costs sky rocketing, can you blame people for leaving? Property taxes are too high, necessary family expenditures are unaffordable. There is too much waste. Taxation need to be allocated more fairly. Spending needs to be controlled. Republicans control locally, Democrats control the State. It's time for unity in more than just the Republican party. The problem is not the fault of D's or R's. It's been unfolding over a long time through both administrations. It's time for Non-Partisan consensus on how to save this state. All this infighting isn't helping anyone.

I have a novel idea. Get rid of them. Time to clean out the Republican house. Some of the people are just stale, useless and creating more problems than they are worth.

To "colleen" and only because it started with you....Can't you find somewhere else to write your hate mail? The question was "Are you going to Lincoln Day?" Answer the question or get off Abe's site.

I will not be attending Lincoln Day. I will be out of town.

you know, mike, i really respect what your saying. maybe people don't always agree with views and stands, but i think you call it the way you see it.

i do think there are some people afraid of job retaliation, but generally you're right. and i don't particular like the "anonymous" people much unless they really need to be so. if someone is a republican then they should support their party. of course, there is a flip side that if someone doesn't support their party they should find another option. On either count, you hit the nail on the head.
